A Testkey is a code attached to a message which allows the recipient to validate both the sender and content of the message.
The Sender and Recipient arrange between themselves an algorithm for calculating the Testkey.
Testkeys were originally calculated and verified by hand in a secure environment using paper tables.
Computers are now employed for this job as they are faster more accurate and can be made more secure, the operators of Testkey systems no longer need to have any knowledge of the algorithms used.
